Today, one does not meet their partners in high school or bars. Today, it has become much easier to find their life partners, and that is using technology. Established in 2014, Bumble dating app and revolutionized the way women can find their love partners or best friends. The app, created by Whitney Wolfe Herd, has managed to set itself apart from other dating apps by being devoted to women. The app allows only the women to make the first move or else the connections are dropped. Thus, it gives more power to women to communicate with men on the dating app that they would love to know better. Whitney Wolfe Herd got the idea to create such as app using her own experiences in life. She herself found it hard to approach her crush or to ask them out. She wanted to create an app that allows the women to be in control of her love life.
Bumble was started in a small room with just a few employees, but recently, they moved into their new office and had added more than 60 employees. The new head office of Bumble in Austin, Texas is everything that an employee would want to spend time in. The office is trendy, cool, functional and a reflection of a women-centric company that Bumble is. But, it is not just the interior decoration that speaks for its business culture. The company does not have a set 9 to 5 timings for its employees. They have flexible timings, and the employees choose their own working hours depending on their kid’s schedule or anything else that is important to them. What is essential for the company is that the work is getting done and not when you arrive at the office. Even pets are welcome in the office during the holidays. The office also has a bar and lunches that all employees can enjoy. There is no dress code for the employees, and the employees can wear whatever they are comfortable in.
Whitney Wolfe Herd does not tolerate any abusive language or explicit content on the app making it safe for women. She, however, did not meet her love on the dating app. She met her now husband, Michal Herd, in 2013 and recently got married in a fairytale wedding in Italy in September 2017. She aims to start new projects under her company to help empower women in different fields of life.
